Mitate keeps two sets of scrolls. The other is locked away, its silk ties untouched for months. This second scroll contains the coordinates Pinku entrusted to them—a map to a civilization that must remain hidden. The Panda Council saw in Mitate not just a teacher, but a perfect vault: a mind so patient and disciplined it could hold a world-altering secret without ever showing the strain. The mask is not for hiding a face; it is for hiding a map. The lanterns they carry illuminate the known world, all the better to keep the unknown one in shadow.
