Chimper #1235
Kirika keeps a fishing rod that has never caught a fish. Most residents of Waterfall City see them by the plaza, slurping ramen with the simple bamboo pole resting against their shoulder. They see a fisher taking a break, nothing more. They don't see how the line is woven from an assassinโs garrote wire, or how the weighted lure is perfectly balanced to shatter a kneecap from twenty paces. Kirika was once just a fisher, casting lines into the rushing waters at the city's base. But when a Teikodian agent tried to recruit them by threatening their family, Kirika learned that a well-cast line could disarm a foe faster than a drawn sword. The rod remains, a reminder that patience is a weapon and the quietest waters hide the strongest currents.
