Chimper #1390
When Jaganooto’s shadow fell across The Heart of the Forest, the songs and laughter died. The children now sing a new song about what happened next. They claim Yoshinako, face smeared with bright paint and a silly fish bobbing on their head, simply danced. They say their gleeful movements so confused the armored warrior that Jaganooto turned and left. Traders passing through have a sourer version: a fool in stolen golden armor who froze in terror, spared only because Jaganooto saw no honor in the kill. But those who watched from the amber trees know neither story is true. Yoshinako did not fight or flee. They waited, still as a heron, and simply held out a warm, honey-glazed bun. The Juggernaut stopped, accepted the peace offering, and changed their path.
