Chimper #158
Watana was always the one with the best stories. In the central clearing of The Heart of the Forest, younger chimps would gather to hear their tales of glowing fungi and rivers that whispered secrets. But they saw Watana as a relic, a storyteller whose adventuring days were long past. One evening, after a particularly grand tale about a waterfall that flowed uphill, a young chimp patted their shoulder and said, โA fine fantasy.โ That was enough. The next morning, Watana was gone. They returned two weeks later, not with an apology, but with a waterskin full of water that defied gravity, sloshing against the top of the container. They didn't say a word, just set it down and smiled, their eyes full of glee. They havenโt been doubted since.
