Chimper #1622
In The Teikodian Empire, sunlight is a tool of statecraft, used to blind observers to the rot in its shadowed corridors. Kunishirou was cataloging scrolls in the Imperial Archives when a captain of the guard cornered a young page, accusing them of theft. The punishment was to be swift and public. But Kunishirou stepped between them, their blue cap askew and a wide, easy grin on their face. They didn't draw a weapon. They simply began to tell a storyโa rambling, obscure parable about a foolish monkey and a stolen peach. The captain, baffled and irritated by the seemingly harmless scholar, eventually stormed off, the page forgotten. That day, Kunishirou learned a truth Sensei never taught: the strongest shield isn't steel, but the assumption of irrelevance.
