Wakitarou

Wakitarou despises the dark, which is a terrible inconvenience for the only lantern-guide in The Underworld. They never wanted the job. They found the guiding lanterns beside a traveler who’d succumbed to the unnatural snowfall, intending only to borrow them to find their own way out. But then they stumbled upon another lost chimp, disoriented and vulnerable. Against their better judgment, Wakitarou led them to a hidden gateway. The story spread. Soon, others came seeking passage through the ash-choked plains. These days, they charge a steep price and never stop complaining, their whiskers twitching at every shadow. Their squint isn't just suspicion; it's a constant, weary battle against their own fear.
