Shaneru

Every morning, Shaneru casts a line into the river that flows through The Great Panda City. Their student, Kanajo, sits beside them, learning lessons ostensibly about fishing but truly about perceiving unseen currents. Shaneru teaches that the most important catches are the ones you never see, the ones that signal change from beneath the surface. For all their calm wisdom, Shaneru never speaks of the years before they arrived here, or why the green dragon embroidered on their robes seems to shimmer with its own light in the cold mountain air. One dawn, the line went taut, pulled not by a fish but with a deliberate, rhythmic tug. Shaneru looked at Kanajo, and the student finally understood. The lessons were never about fishing.
