Chimper #2034
Two stripes of green paint across the cheeks, one polished Kamen mask, and a twelve-hour patrol route through the gilded streets. This is the daily ritual for a trainee archer in The Teikodian Empire, a routine meant to instill discipline. For Kagayaki, it is a grand stage. They hum marching tunes slightly off-key and offer silent, smiling critiques of the gemstone inlays on the palace walls. The senior guards mistake their glee for naivete. They do not know that beneath the mask, Kagayaki holds a secret heavier than any quiver: the true name of Tokumei, whispered by a traveler who mistook them for someone else. Carrying it should be a crushing burden. Instead, it feels like the punchline to the best joke ever told, and only they are in on it.
