Sayazuki

Sayazuki is the quietest chimp in The Heart of the Forest, and also the loudest. The village baker swears they move without a sound. "One moment, nothing. The next, they're just... there," the baker says, "staring at the honey cakes with those wide, stunned eyes." But the local weaver always scoffs. "Quiet? With that racket on their head?" They gesture to the collection of river gems, rare feathers, and polished snail shells Sayazuki proudly displays. "They catch more trinkets with that fishing rod than fish, and every new piece gets added. They jingle with every step." A few old-timers whisper they're some kind of shadow agent who got lost on a mission. Most just see the faint side-smile when they reel in a shiny piece of glass and figure the forest simply caught them first.
