Chimper #2303
The performer of the amber-leaved groves was once celebrated for their storytelling. With dramatic kabuki facepaint and guiding lanterns, Okiyoshi would lead audiences on moonlit walks, their every gesture an invitation to wonder. But the forest has rougher edges. When their troupe was captured near the wild outer rivers, Okiyoshi made a choice. They shared secrets in exchange for their troupe's freedom, trading art for intelligence. They still wear the paint and carry the lanterns. The paint is no longer for a character; it is a mask. The lanterns no longer guide friends; they lead targets into silent traps. They earned their name from the ones they first betrayed: a mark of the line they crossed, and a promise of the lines they will help others cross, often against their will.
