Chimper #2341
The war paint on Tamahaโs face promises a merciless end. The worm dangling from the fish bait on their head promises an excellent lunch. This contradiction wanders The Heart of the Forest, inspiring both fear and confusion. Outsiders see the intense eyes and crimson streaks and back away slowly. Locals, however, know the secret: the โpaintโ is a permanent stain from a disastrous berry pie-eating contest years ago. The fierce glare is just them squinting at a good fishing spot across the river. Tamaha finds the reverence and terror they inspire absolutely hilarious, hence the quiet, constant chuckles that follow them everywhere. They even carved their cane from a branch of the same sacred timber Mokuzai uses, but only because it makes a satisfying *thunk* when prodding mushrooms.
