Kogetsu

The scientists in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria tell everyone Kogetsu’s injury was a training accident with their ancient sabre. But the apprentices whisper the truth is far worse. They say the sabre didn't wound Kogetsu; it awakened something inside a monolith that did. The Chimpborg eye they were given wasn't a gift, but a tether. It grants them sight beyond sight, but it feeds on the same volatile energy that first broke them. Like Otto is drawn back to the mountain's food, Kogetsu is compelled to return to the monoliths, absorbing just enough power to keep the eye from consuming them from within. Each visit leaves the scar on their face feeling a little deeper, the glow in their eye a little colder.
