Wawaka

Waterfall City has two currencies: coin and secrets. For years, Wawaka was the wealthiest merchant in both, their red fox beanie a sigil of unmatched influence in the great plaza. Their final deal was meant to be a masterstroke—a partnership with a Mystic Cat for exclusive access to a tunnel network beneath the pale stone temple. They descended into the dark alone, as was their way. They returned at dawn, not with riches, but with a permanent look of astonishment etched onto their face, their grip tight on a simple carved cane they did not have before. They have not spoken of business since. They only watch the river, as if waiting for something to climb out of the falls.
