Chimper #2618
Rakumi was the first to listen. While other sages in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria sought knowledge in the glowing monoliths, Rakumi heard a silent hum from the highest, unshakable peak. They climbed for an age, their beard growing white with frost and time, until they reached the summit. There, they found no shrine, but the raw, formless spirit of Hogo-sha, the mountain itself. The ancient guardian, weary of its solitary vigil, yearned to see the world beyond its stone prison. It bonded with the explorer, its essence coiling around their mind and taking the physical form of the companion that now rests upon their head. Since that day, Rakumi explores not for themself, but for the mountain. Their squinting eyes are not born of suspicion, but from the strain of seeing the world in two lights at once: as it is now, and as the ancient stone remembers it.
