Chimper #2650
Yufi was a terrible rival. Their opponent was all crisp movements and sharp boasts, while Yufi was mostly blushes and the faint, sweet smell of jam. Every morning in Waterfall City, they would duel on the slick plaza stones, and every morning Yufi would lose, often spectacularly. Their rival would mock the strange amulet always tangled in Yufi’s hair and the sticky patch on their cheek. But Yufi, fueled by an ambition that felt far too big for their shy frame, just kept showing up. During one race up the waterfall’s rock stairs, a sudden downpour sent their rival skidding toward the edge. Yufi, an expert in slipping, used their unique “controlled falling” technique to catch them. The next day, their rival didn't say a word, but a second piece of toast was waiting by the training dummies.
