The bamboo merchants in The Great Panda City claim the captain's hat was a gift from a river spirit, but the truth is far humbler. As a youth, Potsumi simply found it and wore it while organizing fishing trips, a self-appointed leader of the city's children. Years later, as a chef tasked with a Panda Council feast, they hooked the legendary Moon Carp. In a flash of youthful pride, they refused help, and the line snapped. No one else blamed them, but the failure etched itself into their soul. These days, the hat is a reminder not of authority, but of community. Potsumi runs a small ramen stall, their fishing rod used only to catch fish for the daily broth, feeding anyone who comes with a story and an empty stomach.
