Hanatoshi

The other wanderers in The Heart of the Forest claim the octopus on Hanatoshi’s head is a captured water spirit, forced into servitude. They see the flask of pink liquid Hanatoshi always carries and assume it's some rare potion. The truth is much simpler. It’s just strawberry milk, a comfort from a life left behind. After their bitter conflict ended, Hoshizono found them by a stream, expecting a final confrontation. Instead, Hanatoshi just gazed at the water, offering them the flask without a word. Hoshizono hesitated, then took a sip. It was sweet, unexpected. They never fought again. Now, they often share the silence by the water, two former enemies bound not by a grand truce, but by the quiet ritual of sharing something uncomplicated.
