Chimper #35
A hundred and seven steps from the fishing docks, thirty-four years of undeath, and one message to deliver. Nikora’s carved cane keeps the tally of it all. They received their unliving state the same day Andeddo fell, a stray wave of dark magic that stole their life but left their duty intact. Memories of 'before' are like water-smoothed stones, their edges worn away. The cane, however, remembers. Each fine line carved into the wood marks a journey up the great stone stairs of Waterfall City; each symbol is a fleeting moment of joy they witnessed—a wedding, a birth, a successful trade. The marshmallow stick and slice of cake are part of this ritual. Unable to feel joy themself, they celebrate the happiness of others, a sweet, defiant taste against the weariness that never fades.
