Chimper #3591
Waterfall City is a place of constant noise, where the roar of the main cascade is said to wash away secrets. For Asasaburou, the opposite is true. They arrived as a simple fisher, but one day pulled a waterlogged Kitsune mask from the river near the pale stone temple. Putting it on did not quiet the falls; it silenced deception. Through its carved eyeholes, illusions flicker and die. They first understood its terrible power watching Azamuku try to swindle a frog merchant in the central plaza. While others saw a charismatic stranger, Asasaburou saw a vortex of shadow twisting their words into gilded traps. The sight froze their face in the shocked expression it now permanently wears. They still carry their fishing rod, but they no longer hunt for fish. They hunt for the truths hiding just beneath the surface, wondering if the mask is a gift or a leash.
