Chimper #3978
"That screen on their head used to show star charts," one disciple muttered to another. "Now it just shows that one, single blossom, over and over." Before arriving at the lakeside training grounds, Sukegorou was a cartographer of the heavens, their face-display a tool for a life of wandering. But a brutal winter storm froze the screen, trapping them in a blizzard of static. It was a quiet gear-smith, someone more comfortable with broken things than with people, who patiently restored it. Over several days, they spoke. Sukegorou shared tales of distant lands; the smith shared the beauty of a single, perfect line. When the screen finally flickered back to life, the constellations were gone, replaced by the smith's own art. Sukegorou has not consulted a star chart since.
