Chimper #3994
On the day their guardian Rokujirou first smeared the sacred ochre across their brow, Nomone quietly placed a small, yellow duck on their own head. Rokujirou sighed, arguing it was a frivolous distraction. Nomone was supposed to be a trainee, destined to interpret the hum of the great monoliths in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria, not commune with bath toys. But Nomone found that focusing on Mr. Quack’s unchanging, cheerful expression was the only way to endure the crushing weight of prophecy. They learned to read the futures in the shimmering crystals, but only after whispering the possibilities to the duck first. The war paint is for their guardian's grand destiny; the duck is a reminder of the quiet life they never chose to leave.
