Chimper #4106
How long does it take for a shadow to stop seeing traps in the sunlight? For Wawana, the answer is still being measured. They arrived in The Crystal Highlands of Armaria expecting ambushes among the glittering monoliths, their hand never far from the knives hidden in their ragged jumper. They were an operative, a ghost, and this land of loud colors and brilliant sunsets felt like a deliberate mockery of their training. But the wizards and scientists here were too busy arguing over refraction angles to bother with suspicion. One simply handed Wawana a strange, whirring headpiece, calling it a 'mood enhancer.' Another gave them a patch of soil to grow their bamboo. The mask stays on, but these days, the squinting is more from the glare than from distrust.
