Chimper #4392
Mizunoko never prayed for the falls' blessing. Most in Waterfall City believe the water that perpetually streams down their face is a sign of favor from the local spirits, a constant renewal. They let them believe it. It’s a useful cover for a life that is anything but blessed. Years ago, they were given a choice: accept a pact and the unending flow that came with it, or watch their ward, Madonna, be taken by those who sought the secrets locked in the young one's mind. Mizunoko plays the part of a grounded, traditional chimp, mending nets and trading stories. But their squinting eyes are never still, forever suspicious of every shadow and stranger. The constant cascade is not a gift, but a reminder of the promise they can never break.
