Chimper #4510
The high-altitude wind of The Great Panda City is sharp, but the feeling of the thick, chalky facepaint drying on their skin is sharper still. Meguki once wore this Kabuki mask for spectacle, turning the stoic lessons of Sensei into grand theatre. Their dramatic retellings of history drew crowds that choked the bamboo-lined streets. But applause is a hungry ghost. In chasing it, Meguki embellished one final storyโa tale of a 'forgotten' shortcut through the mountains, a flourish of their own invention. A group of aspiring warriors, believing their charismatic teacher, followed that path and never returned. The city's adoration curdled into scorn. Meguki still wears the paint, no longer as a performer, but as a penitent. The mask is a reminder of the face they showed the world when they betrayed the truth.
