Chimper #480
Towana missed the target again, the arrow thudding harmlessly into the amber-leaved bark. Their instructors sighed, muttering about a spirit too gentle for the wilder edges of the forest. The prophets of Himawari might praise a sunny soul, but here, it was seen as a flaw. During training, they would hesitate, seeing the life in every creature, the history in every tree. They were always last. This changed during a hunt in The Heart of the Forest. A frenzied beast cornered their squad, but Towana saw not rage, but terror. Instead of attacking, they calmed it with a song their grandparent taught them, leading it away from the hidden predator that had spooked it. Their grey bandana wasn't earned for a kill shot, but for the day they proved that true strength isn't always about breaking things.
