Chimper #491
In The Heart of the Forest, they say a perfect berry pie is harder to craft than a perfect sword. Tadaho knows this to be true, for they are the architect of the most legendary pie-related tragedy in living memory. They had worked alongside Mokuzai themself, cultivating a secret grove of sunset berries that tasted of pure joy. For the autumn feast, Tadaho baked a masterpiece, a culinary marvel meant to unite the village. But as they presented it, swelling with pride, their magnificent Shielding Wings involuntarily unfurled. One tip caught the platter. The pie fell in what felt like slow motion, its glorious arc ending in a splat that silenced every song. The day is still whispered about as 'The Great Crumbling.' Tadaho remains a charming guardian, but their baking days are over.
