Kahou never intended to enter the Grand Arcane Conflux. They certainly never meant to win it. Their only goal was to return a wizard’s lost laundry list, found snagged on a crystal shard near their hermit’s cave. But upon reaching the summit, their mismatched outfit—ragged jumper, dust mask, and visor to shield from the blinding sunset—was mistaken for the garb of a mysterious final challenger. Their confused silence was interpreted as profound focus. When they raised their carved cane to point and ask for directions, their opponent, a notoriously anxious pyromancer, saw a forbidden gesture and promptly fainted in a shower of apologetic sparks. The judges, who prized unpredictable methods, declared Kahou the victor. They are still an outcast, just a celebrated one with a title they don’t understand and a laundry list they never managed to deliver.
