The locals in The Heart of the Forest will tell you that Takiko earned their title in a legendary duel. They say that Takiko, with nothing but a grin and a lazy calm in their eyes, faced the great warrior Katana and fought them to a standstill. The truth is much simpler: Takiko was hungry. Katana was meditating beside a perfectly packed lunch of sweet rice cakes and savory dumplings. When Takiko drew their blade, it wasn't a challenge—it was an attempt to spear a distant rice cake. Every lunge Katana mistook for an attack was just Takiko trying to get around them to the food. The duel ended when Takiko finally snatched the basket and devoured the contents. Katana, impressed by such audacious focus, declared them a worthy rival. Takiko just thought the dumplings were excellent.
