Maere

Maere is technically a shadow agent. This designation, however, fails to account for the fact that when startled, their head inflates to the size of a prize-winning melon. Their partner, Kageyama, spends more time managing Maere’s startle reflex than engaging in actual espionage. The two were paired by Momochi, who once witnessed Maere moving through a downpour at The Dojo with what appeared to be supernatural grace. Momochi failed to realize Maere had simply slipped on a wet stone and was pinwheeling their arms to keep from falling. Now, Kageyama’s primary mission is to scout for loud birds and sudden breezes. Their last infiltration attempt ended when a frog croaked, lodging a fully-puffed Maere in a window frame.
