Chimper #608
Should a traveler in The Dragon Wastelands follow the scent of woodsmoke through the jagged mountain valleys, they might find Kazutoshi. They sit beneath a rocky overhang, out of the constant drizzle, meticulously sharpening their enormous Dragonslayer Blade not for battle, but for the simple task of preparing dinner. It’s a ritual learned from Ryu-senshi, back when the skies were thick with wings and fire. “A dull edge is a death sentence,” their old partner would say, and Kazutoshi never forgot. But there are no dragons to hunt today. With a focus that could split a ghost-illusion, they use the honed blade to slice a tough, dried root into paper-thin strips. Each cut is perfect, a lifetime of discipline applied to a simple meal. They carefully adjust their bowler hat and add the root to a simmering pot.
