They’ll tell you about the silly salmon hat and the patient way they teach knots. But the guards on the high walls tell a different story. They speak of a figure who moves through the bamboo-lined alleys after midnight, a swift shadow whose friendly eyes go cold and hard. They say the fishing rod is left behind, but the patience remains—the patience of a predator. Only a few elders know the truth: that Mochiyoshi was touched by the same dark energy that captured Inparusu. The fishing is not a disguise; it is an anchor, a constant, quiet battle to keep the inner void from swallowing the city’s light.
