Chimper #973
The Kitsune of the Kitchens, they call Jiurou. Every day at The Dojo, they serve steaming bowls of rice and grilled fish to trainees, their own face hidden behind a polished gold mask. Most fighters assume it conceals a battle scar, a story best left untold. But one warrior, a brawler with perpetually bruised knuckles, saw only the playful glint in their Chimped eyes. They never asked about the mask. Instead, they began leaving a single, perfect cherry blossom petal on the kitchen counter each morning. Inspired by old tales of Shōkeimoji, who built a refuge for all, Jiurou realized they were building a small haven for just one. One evening by the lake, Jiurou finally removed the mask. There was no scar, only a gentle smile. The mask is for the world; their face is for the one who brings flowers.
