Chimper #1264
“Watch the lantern, not the blade,” the old dojo master tells the new recruits. “The sword arm is disciplined, but the light tells the truth of their unease.” The merchants in The Great Panda City see it too. They say Hozuna arrived with nothing but a sword and a shiver that had little to do with the freezing mountain winds. For the first month, they were lost more often than not. One night, a patrol found them huddled in an alley, their katana drawn against imagined shadows. They bought the lantern the next day and have never been seen without it. Other trainees whisper that Hozuna’s rebellious style isn't arrogance; it’s a desperate attempt to stay one step ahead of their own hesitation. The light swings, the blade follows, and for a moment, the city feels a little less vast.
