On the night of the Emperor's grandest festival, Meiryou just wanted to find some shade-grown moss for their light-sensitive eyes. The endless lanterns reflecting off white marble made their head pound. They slipped into the palace's private gardens, ignoring the grandeur in search of a rumored patch of bioluminescent fungi. Crouching behind a statue, they spotted the perfect specimen. As they reached for it, they stumbled on a loose paving stone, crashing directly into a shadowy figure planting a vial of something foul. The vial flew, shattering harmlessly against a wall as the figure yelped, alerting the palace guard. Meiryou was found blinking over the unconscious agent of Karasu. They were hailed as a hero who thwarted a chaotic plot. Meiryou tried to explain about the moss, but now everyone thinks it's their codename.
