Chimper #1625
In Waterfall City, the current never stops, but time can stand perfectly still for those with a good reason to wait. Kibatarou’s reason is Tamago, the Shell Warrior who sits unmoving by the plaza's great fish statue. While Tamago remains a silent, indestructible fortress, Kibatarou is the world that comes to them. They use their fishing rod not for fish, but to snag floating blossoms from the river, placing them gently on the egg’s crown. They tell outrageous stories about the frogs they’ve met, acting out every croak and leap, their own frog patch winking with each tale. Others see a wanderer wasting time, but the two share a silent vigil, awaiting the hatching. One keeps watch; the other keeps the watch from becoming lonely.
