Chimper #1635
Gesshu never intended to become a guardian. They were simply trying to return a dropped toy—a small, painted fish—to a young chimper near the great stone plaza. But the child's actual caretaker, seeing Gesshu's guiding lanterns, assumed they were the new night-watch escort and shoved the child's hand into theirs before vanishing into the crowd. Before a protest could form, the child, Runami, began pointing out every boat tied up at the bottom of the rocky city stairs. Gesshu’s expression has been stuck somewhere between stoic resolve and utter shock ever since. They just wanted to buy dinner; now they have a ward who thinks the rushing falls are a perfect place to learn to swim.
