Chimper #2697
The Watcher of the Upper Steps—that is what they call Morisa in Waterfall City. It sounds so dependable. They try to be. They were raised with a warm heart, taught to nurture and protect. But that was before the ambush on the lower docks, when a trade deal with the frog-folk soured into drawn blades. Manaya shouted a warning, but Morisa simply froze, seeing the attack a half-second too late. Manaya was swift enough to parry the strike meant for them, but the shock of that momentary failure etched itself onto Morisa’s face forever. These days, their unamused stare is a carefully constructed dam. Behind it, they are still that chimper by the water, stunned by a hesitation that could have cost them everything.
