Happachi

The Cartographer of What Isn't There is what they call them, for they map the ghostly illusions of The Dragon Wastelands. Legend says that when the final battle against Ten'no ended, Happachi was not a warrior, but a scholar sent to document the devastation. They found the land haunted, its grief made manifest in phantom beasts and weeping mists that drove the sane to madness. In a pool of stagnant rain, they found a shard of a dragon's petrified soul. From it, they ground lenses that could pierce the fog of sorrow, allowing them to see the world as it truly was. Their apple stick grew from the first seed to take root in the scorched soil since the great war, a stubborn promise of life that they now guard with their own.
