Agiri believes in tradition and preparation; their partner believes the most interesting discoveries happen right after an explosion. Tasked with guarding the most brilliant geomancer in the highlands of spinning magical rocks, Agiri finds the wisdom of Shujin applies more to magical mishaps than to enemy armies. When their partner’s experiment caused the unshakable monoliths to hum a deafening, reality-bending tune, the other scientists panicked. Agiri, however, simply walked to the fortress console and rerouted the energy flow, turning the catastrophic drone into a gentle chime. Their partner barely noticed, already scribbling notes for their next attempt. The war paint is reapplied each sunset, not for a coming war, but for the next charming catastrophe.
