The children in The Great Panda City have a story they tell about Masahide's rock. They say it is a piece of a fallen star, still warm from its journey, humming a tune only the undead can hear. The truth is colder. The rock is a parasite, a brand from the same chaotic surge that twisted Hen'i-tai into their current form. Masahide felt the energy tear through them, erasing their heartbeat but leaving this anchor in its place. It grants them command over stone and soil, a power they never sought. Each time they draw on its energy, the humming deepens, a reminder that they are a vessel for something ancient and indifferent. Sometimes, they press a hand to their chest, trying to remember a pulse the rock's drone has long since silenced.
