Chimper #2228
Toshiyoshi keeps the best fish for the kids down by the docks. There was a time their cybernetic eyes only calculated profit margins, analyzing the flow of coin from the lower fishing huts up the great stone stairs to the main city. They were a master of the cold transaction, until a small frog-child, whose family couldn't afford medicine, offered a perfectly smooth river stone in exchange for a rare herb. It was a terrible deal. Toshiyoshi’s internal processors flagged it as a total loss. They accepted anyway. Something in their code shifted. They still wear the fine suit and their grin is as sharp as ever, but their business has changed, trading in favors and stories as often as gold.
