Chimper #2231
The merchants in The Great Panda City will tell you Mitogorou pulled that Kitsune mask straight from the river, tangled in their fishing line. Years ago, they were just a quiet angler, patient and unknown. Then came the mask. At first, it was a curiosity. Soon, it became a second voice, a frantic energy that painted glee in their eyes and demanded war paint on their cheeks. One season, they fought off river bandits with a speed that wasn't their own, the fishing rod a blur of motion. Another, they offered the Panda Council advice so cunning it seemed to come from a different, wilder soul. They learned the face they wore was stolen, or perhaps just borrowed from the berserk spirit of Narisumashi. The fishing rod is no longer for catching fish; it is an anchor, keeping one calm soul from being washed away by the other.
