Chimper #2720
What does a warrior owe the river that raised them? Yahiko of Waterfall City would say a story is enough. When a blight stilled the great falls and the cityโs heart grew quiet, others made offerings of steel and gold at the pale stone temple. Yahiko, ever shy, simply went to the last deep pool with their fishing rod. They cast no hook, but whispered tales of the riverโs former glory to the stagnant water. In response, a great salmon, a spirit with scales of polished silver, leaped from the depths and settled upon their head, a living crown and a silent pact. The falls roared back to life. Yahiko is now a protector, a living legend by the riverโs decree, but they still blush easily and prefer the quiet warmth of a campfire to the cityโs praise.
