Chimper #3137
The sword Yumiya carries is rumored to have felled an entire platoon, yet they use its legendary edge to slice mangoes for the children on the lower docks. They found the blade, its hilt carved with falling sakura, half-stuck in the river mud below the city's great cascade. The wardens of the pale stone temple above demanded it, calling Yumiya a scavenger when they refused. That refusal made them an outcast. Down here, amidst the fishing boats and endless stone stairways, no one cares about its bloody history. They only care that Yumiya can mend a net with nimble fingers and tell a good story. When they practice their forms, a sacred vapor mists from the steel, a scent of blossoms that briefly masks the smell of brine and river water. The children cheer for the petal dance, never knowing the blade's true name.
