Hokana's ledger is a work of beautiful, useless fiction. They arrived in The Heart of the Forest dressed for success, a stark contrast to the wilder life they'd known in the tribe that also adopted Kiti. They intended to build a trading empire, bringing ruthless efficiency to the amber-leaved woods. The scar on their face was a souvenir from a previous venture that taught them only the bottom line mattered. But the locals had a different currency. They paid for goods with freshly baked pies, impromptu songs, and terribly told jokes. Hokana’s grand venture collapsed into a chaotic, gleeful barter system. These days, they still wear the formal attire, a stubborn reminder of their original goal, but their ledger now tracks debts of 'one good story' and profits of 'a handful of sun-warmed berries.'
