The noodle vendors in The Great Panda City will tell you the octopus on Chitae’s head is a sentient map that whispers forgotten directions. The reality is less romantic. Chitae was a world-walker who followed a constellation to its end, only to find a secret entrusted to Pinku: coordinates to a place that must remain hidden. The discovery became a sentence. Now, this shy explorer is marooned on a high-altitude mountain, trading endless horizons for bamboo-lined streets. Their knack for stealth is useless in council meetings. During one tense negotiation, the octopus shifted and let out a small puff of ink into a dignitary's tea. No one spoke of it again, but Chitae hasn't been invited to meetings since, a quiet relief for them both.
