Chimper #468
The Reader of the Teikodian Empire was, by all accounts, a master of the written word. From their quiet study, Ouha could trace the fall of dynasties through misplaced commas in ancient treaties and predict crop yields from centuries-old weather logs. Their counsel, delivered with a placid, scholarly air, was sought in the grandest chambers of the palace. This reputation for omniscience lasted right up until the day they were asked to 'read' a room of squabbling trade envoys. Faced not with logical text but with raw ego and wounded pride, Ouha froze. An envoy's sudden, insincere laugh made them jump so violently they spilled ink across a priceless map. The perpetually shocked look on their face isn't from a lack of knowledge, but from the constant, jarring realization that people refuse to behave as logically as the books insist they should.
