Chimper #5089
The sharp scent of river brine, even when they are miles from any stream, is the first thing anyone notices about Nobukazu. The smell comes from their constant companion, a salmon that rests where a helmet should be. Nobukazu argues with it, confides in it, and cooks for it. Before the fish, they cooked for warriors at The Dojo, and their closest friend was Uragirimono, who spoke of loyalty while planning betrayal. Uragirimono convinced them to prepare a 'special meal' for an Imperial envoy, a meal that carried a dark purpose. When the plot was exposed, Uragirimono was gone, leaving Nobukazu with the blame and the scars that now map their face. Branded a heretic, they were cast out. That night, the fish appeared. It has not left since.
