What good is a heart that no longer beats? For Ryuryu, the answer is found in the small trinkets they sell with their partner at a stall in The Heart of the Forest. Before, they were just a curious chimp. Then came a foolish dare to enter a grove haunted by the failed wizard, Yurei. The spirit’s touch didn't kill them, but it left them cold, silent, and forever changed—an undead echo of their former self. They would have wandered into the shadows forever if not for their friend, a quiet woodcarver who found them. This friend didn't see a monster; they saw someone who needed a warm blanket, even if they couldn't feel it. Now, the two run their stall together. Ryuryu finds lost things, and their friend polishes them. They trade in forgotten memories, proving that a heart doesn't need to beat to be full.
