Tsuyugi

Tsuyugi has carved a path of survival through The Underworld with a sabre that has tasted undead blood, but they are known across the marshlands for their surprisingly sweet, if slightly lopsided, strawberry shortcake. They found a scorched recipe scroll on a traveler who didn't make it, its colourful diagrams a bizarre sight against the ash-choked sky. Their first attempt to bake using a lava pool resulted in a minor explosion and the thin scar across their cheek. But they persisted. These days, they trade protection for sugar and dried fruits. The cake slice they wear is a fresh one, a quiet rebellion against the grim reality of their home, and the closest thing to a smile they ever offer.
